ATTRACTIONS

The Gongguan Courtyard, located north of Toudao Street, was a resting place for officials in the past. It consists of three courtyards arranged longitudinally from north to south, which are well-preserved today. The doors, windows, partitions, and wooden pin-and-socket joints inside the houses are meticulously crafted. Each wooden pin-and-socket joint is manually carved with several different images such as qin, chess, books, lotus, bats, dragonflies, and cicadas, which is extremely exquisite.

Located on the east side of Jimingyi West Street, this Ming Dynasty building once served as a resting place for officials. Situated in three courtyards arranged longitudinally from north to south, it originally had 33 rooms, all of which were small, hard-hipped brick-and-wood structures. Today, the main house in the rear courtyard, the east and west wing rooms, the main house in the middle courtyard, the west wing room, and some remaining partition walls are still preserved, totaling 19 rooms.

The door and window decorations of the main house in the middle courtyard are particularly unique. Behind the diamond-shaped door panels in the main room, a porch is formed. The carved door lintel is fitted with "卍"-shaped partitions that do not reach the end, while the two side rooms have double-layered window sashes decorated inside and outside with lantern-style lattice windows. The wooden carved latches of the outer screen windows can be easily attached and detached, showcasing superb craftsmanship.
