The uniquely styled building before you is the only pawnshop remaining in Jiming Pass. This existing pawnshop is located at the intersection of Qianjie Street and Xijie Street. Its architectural style is unique, with a variation on the hard-ridge roof structure; namely, the east gable wall uses a hip-and-gable method. Simply put, it's a double-sided pawnshop. The coincidence of a pawnshop facing both streets and having doors on both sides interestingly echoes the familiar couplet: “South Tongzhou, North Tongzhou, South and North Tongzhou connect South and North; East pawnshop, West pawnshop, East and West pawnshops pawn East and West.”
