Located on the north side of Toudao Street, before the 35th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, it served as the residence of the highest military commander in the city, responsible for postal services and city defense. It comprised five courtyards. The building is grand in scale and possesses high historical and cultural value. In 1900, when the Eight-Nation Alliance invaded Beijing, Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu stayed here on their way to Xi'an.
The command post was where the military commander of the post station worked. Its primary responsibilities included military defense of the surrounding area, transmission of military intelligence, and infiltration operations.
